New Year's Resolutions
"Do not let any
unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building
others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God,
with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger,
brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and
compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God
forgave you." Ephesians 4:29-32
I haven't made
resolutions for a number of years now.
Why? Because they last for like
2-3 days and then I'm done! But on the
way to work yesterday morning KLOVE was talking about the meaning of resolution (or
resolute) and it takes on a different mindset.
Resolution: a resolve or determination-to make a firm resolution to do
something; the mental state or quality of being resolved or resolute; firmness
of purpose.
With the true meaning
of resolution on my mind, here is what I've come up with for 2013:
Resolution #1 - Refer to Ephesians 4 daily. I will not to say harmful things, but only
what will help build and benefit others; choosing to rid myself of bitterness,
anger, and malice. Instead I will be
kind and forgiving. (This will
definitely be a work in progress!)
Resolution #2 - Dedicate more time to prayer and utilize
my prayer journal. Commit to praying for
others. (It will help with Resolution
#1!)
Resolution #3 - Devote time for Bible Study; study the word itself.
Resolution #4 - Eat healthier and drink less soda. Stick to a meal plan!
Resolution #5 - Establish an exercise routine and following. Be more active!
